Good night, dear void

This morning, I was in a meeting, when someone shared the news that Henry Waxman is retiring. The room’s strong reaction to a retirement announcement demonstrated the great admiration people have for him. After 40 years, the leader who championed health care for all and fought for important values, will leave the Congress.

Having a tough time figuring out why this news struck me so much. I never worked for Mr. Waxman, and I while admire him tremendously, I cannot say that I’ve researched his work to the degree of others who felt the impact of his announcment. For whatever reason, it just really made me sad.

Anyway, just wanted to, in the words of Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail, send this thought out into the void. So good night, dear void.
